About the Blog

The sole purpose of my blog is to be able to show that reading isn't always about sentences, paragraphs, pages, and chapters, but that it is a whole different world where readers can get carried into something as fantastical as faraway magical lands to something as ordinary as a house atop a hill. Each type of reading material leaves a lasting impression on a person whether it be through the moral learned or the attitude gained. Although neglected by many, reading is figuratively like a living thing. Its heart is fueled by the curiosity and wonder shown by the readers and its body consists of the constant words that ebb and flow in and out as a reader's eye lingers along the strands of words on a page. Every page of a book opens up a new roadway into a journey, so why not start yours by looking through my book reviews to find out which one suits you best!

The set up of my reviews:

My Ratings: I grade the books using the usual rating of stars. I have three categories: Vocabulary, Ingredients (Literary Elements), and Satisfaction (Is it a page turner?).

*****- Extraordinary use of vocabulary, incorporates many similes, metaphors, etc., and is a great pass time book which can also be used for school.

****- Great use of vocabulary, lacks a bit of descriptive writing, good pass time, would not use for school.

***- Not hard but not easy vocabulary, easily comprehensible, some use of literary elements, and great pass time.

**/*- Rudimentary vocabulary used, okay description, is a bit hard to understand and lacks the feeling of WOW for me.

BTW: These ratings are coming from a teenager's point of view!

Lexile Level: This is a unique way to grade a book almost. In many schools, you could have used AR Levels and the teacher could have given the students a range from which they can read books. In this case, I use Lexiles and these levels can be found on http://www.lexile.com/. I personally don't like using ranges of levels to choose the books I can read because it doesn't allow readers to challenge themselves. The reason I added Lexile Levels is to act as a guideline for the toughness of the comprehension of the book.

P.S. A little about this Lexile stuff:

Genre: Shows the type of category that the book is under and can help people find a book that suits their favorite genre.

My Opinions:  These are just my opinions of the book. Some are positive and some are negative, this is just to show a variety of books that I read and not just good ones because then, there would be no point in creating reviews to recommend books to my blog readers. Again, these are my opinions, so there is no right or wrong answer, so don't keep a book down just because I say it wasn't ideal.:)

I also WANT to know your opinions on the books I write reviews, so leave me comments!!:)
